Need Power for Your Community Event? We’ve Got That Covered.

One of the biggest challenges when organising an outdoor community event is access to power.

Across Bermondsey and wider London, many parks, estates, squares and community spaces simply don’t have access to mains electricity. Yet almost every event depends on it.

A PA system.

Lighting.

Children’s activities.

A laptop and projector.

Phone charging.

Without power, organisers are often forced to hire noisy petrol generators, arrange costly temporary installations, or scale back their plans altogether.

We believe there’s a better, more community-friendly and environmentally-friendly way.

That’s why The Bermondsey BID has invested in a portable 5kW Fogstar Power Station, available for local community groups to borrow for eligible non-profit events. We’ve even got a 450w solar panel we can lend you, to help increase what is possible.

It’s clean.

It’s silent.

There are no fumes, no engine noise, and no need to run cables across public spaces to find the nearest socket.

Simply bring the battery to your event, plug in what you need, and focus on bringing people together.

This initiative is part of our wider commitment to supporting local activity, working collaboratively with residents, community organisations, and the council to make Bermondsey an even more vibrant and inclusive place.

We hope it helps unlock events that might otherwise never happen.

Perhaps that’s a neighbourhood picnic on an estate green.

A film screening in a park.

A children’s craft workshop.

A community choir.

A local history exhibition.

A makers’ workshop.

An outdoor theatre performance.

Or a celebration that simply needs reliable power.

The battery won’t solve every challenge involved in organising an event (…and you might need more power than we can help with, but for most things we think it’ll be more than enough).

But if access to electricity is the thing standing between an idea and making it happen, we’d love to help.

Not sure if it’ll be enough power your event?

Don’t worry — most people don’t know how much electricity their equipment uses, and we’re happy to help work it out.

Just send us a list of the equipment you’re planning to use, along with model numbers where possible. If there’s a label showing the power consumption (usually in watts or kilowatts), a photo of that is even better.

Also let us know roughly how long you’d like your event to run for on each day.

We’ll review your plans, estimate the total power requirements, and let you know whether we can help.

If it isn’t, we’ll let you know in good time so you can make alternative arrangements.

If you’re a community group, charity or local organisation planning an event in Bermondsey (or wider London), we’d love to hear from you.

Sometimes all a good idea needs is somewhere to plug in.
