Millwall Match Day Face painting / Arts and crafts / 2 May

It’s great to see local businesses in Bermondsey coming together to support family-friendly initiatives that benefit the whole community.
On weekends with home fixtures, we’ll be offering free face painting at The Blue Market. The designs don’t have to be football-themed — kids can choose anything they like.

In Bermondsey, we’re lucky to have a strong network of local businesses who don’t just operate side by side, but actively pitch in together to support the wider community. One of the clearest examples of this collaboration is what happens on Millwall matchdays.
Football brings energy and footfall to the area, and we see that as an opportunity, not just to welcome supporters, but to create something extra for families and local residents too. By adding simple pop-up activities like face painting, we help make matchdays feel welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
It’s all about collaboration. A single business might only be able to do a small thing, but when we pool resources, ideas, and energy, the result is something much bigger. Families feel welcome, businesses see new faces, and the area becomes a destination rather than just a route to the stadium.
This spirit of pitching in together is at the heart of Bermondsey’s identity. Matchdays are a reminder that when local businesses put community first, everyone benefits; residents, visitors, and supporters alike.
