Bermondsey Advent Windows 2025
A celebration of creativity, community, and local heritage
This December, Big Local Works and Bermondsey BID are teaming up to transform Bermondsey into a festive public art trail — and we’re inviting local organisations, schools, charities, and businesses to take part!
🎄 What is Bermondsey Advent Windows?
Bermondsey Advent Windows is a new community art initiative that will see 25 local windows transformed into illuminated artworks. They’ll all go live early in December — however to keep with the advent theme one unveiled/promoted each day throughout December 2025 on social media channels.
Each festive window will be first and foremost festive, celebrate Bermondsey’s proud history, and where possible link to the overall theme of “The Larder of London” — a nod to both its local production heritage and the riverside warehouses that once stored the capital’s meat, dairy, tea, coffee, and spices.
Together, the windows will form a free public art trail, encouraging residents and visitors to explore the area, discover hidden gems, and experience Bermondsey’s creative spirit in a whole new light.
🖼️ How it works
- 25 windows across Bermondsey will feature temporary art installations.
- A new window will be “revealed” each day in December on social media, creating a growing festive trail.
- Participants can design their displays around the “Larder of London” theme — from artistic interpretations to historical storytelling or playful festive scenes.
- Evening illumination is encouraged so artworks can be enjoyed day and night.

- Feature on our interactive and printed trail map and in a brochure showcasing all participating organisations.
- Benefit from an active marketing campaign across social media, local press, and community networks.
- Play a key role in a free cultural experience that draws footfall to Bermondsey during the winter months.
💡 What support is available?
We’ll support participants with:
- Materials funding to help produce the artwork.
- Installation advice and coordination support.
- Promotion through online and print campaigns.
- Businesses participating within Bermondsey BID area can apply for a contribution towards artist costs.
